Our Story
After almost 20 years of denominational ministry, Pastors Jerry & Chris McQuay dreamed of planting a multi-cultural church of supernatural power, where people would be accepted as they were in order to help them become all that God created them to be.….a church which would combine practical Bible teaching with the full ministry of the Holy Spirit to change the way people think about church. That dream prompted them to mobilize a team of volunteers from First Apostolic Church of Tinley Park to make over 14,000 phone calls and send out 10,000 pieces of mail in a two-month telemarketing and direct mail campaign to launch a new church in the south suburbs. A total of 147 people gathered at the opening service on March 25, 1990 at the Tinley Park High School.
As the congregation grew, the first building (now our children’s facility at the TP Campus) was completed in November 1991. The second building (now our youth facility at the TP Campus) was dedicated in April 1995. By 1999, we purchased additional property and began plans for the current sanctuary at the Tinley Park Campus, which was completed in April 2001, then remodeled in 2011. Today over 5,000 people are a part of our growing CLC family, U.S. and abroad. God continues to work among us. There are a lot of assumptions in the world about what church is like, from religious to judgmental, to downright weird. At CLC we want to change the way you think about church as we bring together people from different cultural and religious backgrounds and combine practical bible teaching together with the power of the Holy Spirit to change lives. Our doors are wide open to people from all backgrounds, regardless of where they are on their spiritual journey. Our goal is to infuse life and God’s love into people and families through engaging, powerful worship services that offer biblical truth in relevant and practical ways so that you can KNOW GOD.
